We guide and support formerly incarcerated individuals and help them reconnect with their community, obtain stable incomes, self-sufficiency, and create lasting social and financial resilience.
A comprehensive 1-year program for individuals returning to Santa Clara County from California state prisons.
Housing is the most important part of our re-entry program. We assist you to find quality housing with your own space and the rights afforded by a lease or room rental agreement. At the same time, we provide you the support you need to sustain that housing on your own.
Finding employment can be one of the most challenging aspects of returning to your community. Our employment coach will assist your with your search.
Whatever being happy means to you, we'll help you get there. Whether it's finding fulfilling employment, reconnecting with families, staying clean... we’re here to make it happen.
Our staff and community partners will help you close out the previous chapter of your life, help you pick up where you left off, or start fresh.
The success of our reentry clients — reconnecting with family, finding employment, and achieving happiness and self-sufficiency — is predicated on safe, stable housing.
We own and operate homes where 6-8 formerly incarcerated individuals can share expenses equally and build a network of support.
We provide stipends and reimbursements for friends and family who can provide stable housing for our reentry clients.
We help secure rental deposits and rent assistance in private apartments in the Silicon Valley area.
Clients at risk of addiction or those who prefer a sober environment can request to be housed in sober living environments.
While we will provide up to 1-year of rental assistance while you seek employment and other sources of income to sustain housing after our support ends, to achieve long term self-sufficiency, you must be willing to work with our staff or others to:
1. Find employment
2. Address legal, transportation, and other needs that might impede long term employment or housing
3. Learn to budget money, use credit wisely, and open a savings bank account
Program is open to individuals released from prison or jail within the past 2 years and unhoused or unstably housed since. As such, you must provide your CDC number and/or parole or probation contact information. Additionally you will be asked to submit to review of your criminal record and credit record, not to weed you out of our program, but to identify and address any issues that may prevent you from becoming self-sufficient in housing.
With the cost of an education continuing to rise, we provide aid depending on your financial need, cost of attendance, and more.
Assistance obtaining birth certificates, identification cards, work permits, and other essential documents.
Being able to see and hear helps clients secure and maintain employment, communicate more effectively, and learn new skills.
We can create a plan that supports finding the best and most affordable transportation for you.
Becoming self-sufficient in housing long term requires wise use of money. We assist individuals to create budgets, counsel clients on how to use credit wisely, and assist clients to develop plans to pay off existing debts.
We help you look and feel your best by covering up-front costs for interview attire and required on the job personal protective equipment.
You may be reluctant to admit you need support. Don't let the fear of being labeled with a mental illness prevent you from seeking help.
Build a resilient network of support by reconnecting with your family, friends, and community.
Most reentry clients remain housed 2-years after working with us.
Last year we housed 60 formerly incarcerated persons. Our target is 120.
It costs $9,600 to provide 1 year of quality housing to each participant.
